Telekinesis, or psychokinesis, is the psychic ability to influence physical environment without physical interaction.  A person possessing telekinetic ability can move objects merely by willing the objects to move. 

In some cases, the telekinetic person may not be aware that he or she is having an influence on objects.  In these situations, the telekinetic power operates at a subconscious level.

Mechanism and Origin of Telekinesis

The mechanism of telekinesis is not completely understood.  No conclusive explanation of how an individual converts mental energy into physical energy has been given.

Likewise, how an individual develops or comes to possess telekinetic ability is not understood.  In some cases, telekinesis appears to be a family trait passed on from parent to child.  In other cases, telekinesis is an ability demonstrated by extraterrestrial beings. 

It has not been established that humans possessing telekinesis have alien ancestry, however the possibility has not been ruled out.
